I love living in Perth, and where I can, I'll always try and support Western Australian based businesses. When it comes to lenders, do you know which lenders are owned or headquartered in WA? If you want to support WA-based jobs with your home loan choice then here are your options:
P&N Bank. Formerly a credit union, Police & Nurses Credit Society became a mutual bank trading as P&N Bank in 2013. It is headquartered in Perth and owned by its WA members.
Bankwest. Formerly a wholly owned subsidiary of HBOS, Bankwest was sold in October 2008 to the Commonwealth Bank of Australia. Bankwest has offices in Adelaide, Brisbane, Canberra, Melbourne and Sydney, but is still headquartered here in Perth.
Keystart. Keystart is owned by the WA Housing Authority, which is part of the WA Government and is headquartered in Perth.
UniBank. Headquartered in Perth, but owned by Teachers Mutual Bank Limited.
Goldfields Money. Headquartered in Kalgoorlie and WA owned. It is an Approved Deposit Taking Institution (ADI), but is not strictly a bank, credit union or building society.
Homeloans. Homeloans is a Money Manager, which has been listed on the Australian Securities Exchange (ASX) since 2001. It is headquartered in WA.
Correct as of 25th January 2016.
